The Magstick produces an audible tone when the tip detects a magnetic field in the audible frequency range 20 Hz to 20 kHz.
The Magstick tracer is useful and interesting since you hear the tones generated by the magnetic field created by the AC electric currents: a louder tone means a stronger magnetic field, and the presence of different frequencies or harmonics changes the frequencies of the tone. This Magstick (or "buzzstick") is used to detect sources of magnetic fields or EMFs, such as unbalanced currents, and to follow these sources on hidden wiring or plumbing in walls, ceilings, and floors. It is 30" (75 cm) long, which makes it easy to reach locations near ceilings, walls, and in narrow spaces.
There is no display so it is not used for quantitative measurements. This 30" Magstick includes pickup transducer, audio amplifier, headphones, battery, and instructions for use. It is shipped fully assembled.
