The received signal strength is displayed three ways simultaneously: an LCD screen provides the numeric reading; a histogram of the previous 32 readings is displayed as a moving graph; and easiest to use is the LED color bar display.
Uses of this meter include checking for RF radiation or electrosmog levels near transmission towers (radio, TV, mobile phone and cell phone tower base stations), cellular/cordless phone radiation, microwave oven leakage, wireless communications (AM/FM, TDMA, CDMA, GSM, DECT), wireless LAN (Wi-Fi), Bluetooth, UltraWideband (UWB), wireless spy camera and wireless bug finder, personal RF exposure and environmental EMF safety.
Features
· Wide frequency range: 100 MHz to 3000 MHz. Super-fast response time.
· Measures continuous wave (AM/FM) and high speed burst RF (GSM, TDMA, PCS, CDMA, Wi-Fi)
· Meter calibrated at 1.9 GHz. Calibration accuracy is ± 3.5 dB (not independently confirmed).
· Greatest sensitivity and dynamic range are achieved at the calibration frequency (1.9 GHz):
· Sensitivity: 0.18 nanoWatts per sq.centimeter (equals 1.8 microWatts per square meter)
· Dynamic range is 55 dB: from 0.18 nW/cm.sq. to 58 uW/cm.sq. which equals
1.8 uW/m.sq. to 0.58 W/m.sq. and electric field from 25mV/m to 14.8 V/m
· Peak power density measurements also has this sensitivity and dynamic range
· Frequency response table shown at right, readings should be adjusted for frequency.
· Small compact, handheld size: 5" x 2.5" x 1" (13 cm x 6.5 cm x 2.5 cm) . LCD back light.
· Battery operated (9VDC). Alkaline battery provides > 20 hours of operation. Battery not included.
· Uses a built-in single-axis dipole antenna which detects electric field. At RF frequencies the electric and magnetic fields are usually coupled, so the display shows electromagnetic power.
· This meter measures 100 MHz to 3 GHz so it does not measure low frequencies such as high voltage transmission lines, transformers, or motors, which can be measured using a gaussmeter.
